Folks, another bleg.
Siena is one of my favourite cities, but I'm usually unlucky in terms of picking restaurants when I visit there. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a restaurant within the historic centre of Siena. Something reasonably priced and not too tourist that I could take a small group to (less than ten) for a decent lunch. Any suggestions?

I lead pilgrimages to Europe. I eat only in small, family owned restaurants. My favorite restaurant in Siena is Ristorante Guidoriccio, run by Ercole.
If you are in Il Campo there is a small road (Via Gio Dupree) just to the right of City Hall. The restaurant is located just past City Hall, on your right.
Though many of the restaurants on the square are touristy, and overpriced, this place is not. Technically it's not on the square, it's just beyond.
The food they serve is excellent. I ordered the vegetable lasagna for my last group and everyone in the group (20 people) said it was the best meal of the trip. And we had some great meals.
Go there, you will not be disappointed. Also, the dining room is underground. It's really cool to be able to look out the window, near the ceiling, and see Il Campo above you.
Have a great trip!
